The main regulations within the new EN 12195-2 for lashing-belts and EN 12195-3 for lashing chains are:

• tensioners as well as shorting units must be secured against unintentional unhooking – additionally tensioners must be equiped with a safety mechanism against unscrewing
• all lashing equipment has to show identification tags
• never knot or overload lashing belts or chains
• also note that the tensioning force on lashing ratchets should be applied with one hand only
• protect belts and chains against sharpe edges
• all lifting equipment has to be checked before and after use
• all further regulations within the above mentioned standards have to be considered
